How long have you been in business?
Tilting Motor Works was incorporated in 2007 and initial production will begin in 2010.

Is it Patented?
Tilting Motor Works originally filed for a provisional patent for its tilting three wheeled technology in August 2005 and patent number 7,487,985 was issued on February 10, 2009.  Other patents are pending.

Why two wheels in the front?
The major drawback to motorcycles is the limited safety and stability inherent with having only one front tire. The single front tire limits the amount of braking and traction that can be achieved.  With only one front tire, a motorcycle can lose traction on a slippery patch of sand or oil in the road causing the bike to lose control.  Having two tires will allow one tire to slip and yet will allow the vehicle to remain in control as the other wheel maintains traction.  The TTW, with two front tires, greatly increases the braking capacity and significantly improves the amount of traction available.  The TTW is a safer and more stable vehicle and will open motorcycle riding to people who have stability concerns about riding motorcycles.

How does the tilting three wheeler handle compared to a motorcycle?
A Tilting Motor Works two wheeled tilting front end steers, leans and handles just like a motorcycle.  If you don’t look below the handlebars you can’t tell that you have two wheels in the front.

How far can you lean?
The front end is designed for 45 degrees of lean angle.

What bikes will it work on?
We are doing our first kits for the Haley Road King.  We will next be working on Honda Goldwings, other Harley models and various other cruiser bikes.

How much for the conversion?
We have not finalized our pricing yet but are estimating the conversions will run around $8-10,000 installed including new wheels and bodywork.

Where are they sold?
Tilting Motor Works is in the process of establishing a dealer network who will carry our conversions and do the installations.  Check our dealer map for updates.

How long have you been working on this?
I began with the idea in the summer of 2002 to build a faster, safer and more stable motorcycle.  I test rode my first street legal prototype in 2005, received my patent in 2009 and will begin production in 2010.

Where are the conversions made?
Tilting Motor Works is located in Marysville, Washington about an hour north of Seattle.  Our parts are machined at ISO9000 certified machine shops that make parts for the aviation industry.
